SUPER SUMMER READING

 

 

SUPER SUMMER READING IS HERE!!

Week 1- (June 15-17)- BUILD YOUR OWN SUPERHERO- Students will make their own costume, and get to choose their favorite superpowers!

 

Week 2- (June 22-24)- SUPERHERO TRAINING CAMP- Students will learn to use their Superhero Identity as they try out obstacles and races!

 

Week 3- (June 29-July 1)- STEM OF SUPERHEROS-  Students will investigate science and engineering as they create magnetic slime, and construct their own mini-rockets. 

 

*The week of July-10, we will not have Summer Reading. Recharge your superpowers, and READ, READ, READ!!

 



Week 4- (July 13-July 15)- COMMUNITY HEROS TAILGATE PARTY- Students will read and investigate the jobs of community heroes, and attend a Community Heroes Tailgate Party, Community Heroes will be invited to bring their work vehicles and visit with the students about what they do. A concession stand will be provided with hotdogs, nachos, and root beer floats. 

 

Week 5- (July 20-July 22)- LITERARY HEROES WEEK- Students will explore heroes throughout literature. At the end of the week, the WOCO Drama Club will be presenting the play "Anne of Green Gables."

 

Week 6- (July 27-29)- HEROES THROUGH HISTORY- Students will learn about historical heroes, including Pony Express Riders. We will visit the Pony Express Museum in St. Joseph. We will tour the museum, visit the 1800's school house, and have pizza lunch.

 

Summer Reading Schedule:

K-1 will meet on MONDAYS- 9:30-11:30

2-3 will meet on TUESDAYS- 9:30-11:30

4-6 will meet on WEDNESDAYS- 9:30-11:30
